People have used ropes for lifting, transporting and bundling goods sincs time immemorial. Ever since, natural raw materials such as flax, hemp, and bast as well as the fibres from various trees and bushes were used for the manufacture of ropes. Since 1755 the Pflug Rope Factory has manufactured ropes from these raw materials for agricultural, construction and forest industry.
Based on our nearly 250 yeat-old tradition we have adapted ourselves to the changing markets, whereby after World War II we also began to manufacture round belts for various propulsion, conveyor and transport applications in addition to our classic manufacturing programme. Whereas classic rope making was initially predominant, today this traditional
enterprise and the manufacture of belts stand next to one another on an equal basis.Today we manufacture round, toothed and flat belts for conveyor, transport and motive power engineering, lifting equipment, and slinging aids as well as a variety of ropes for industrial utilisation and also for hobby and leisure needs.
Our unique know-how, endless improved materials and innovative product developements are the reason that Pflug round belts in turned or plaited version as well as our profile or flat belts are used world-wide in all areas of conveyor, transport and motive power engineering. Even the US space agency NASA was so convinced of the well as a variety of ropes for our belts are were utilised in the scope of the Space Shuttle II mission.
Although the manufacture of round belts was initially still predominantly hand work, the production was already fully mechanised by the early 60's. In the 90's we therefore began to develop computer-controlled machines for our belt production. New developments and the quality of our belts are unique to our branch inspected and monitored on computer-controlled test benches developed by us.
Our own research and development, internal manufacturing technologies and the utilisation of the best basic materials place us today in the position to toroughly solve the tasks given to us in the sphere of belt engineering.
